208 pin adapter shown |
The MACHBOND products are adapters for the MACH family of CPLDs from AMD (now Vantis) These chips are housed in high-pin count SMD packages that make them very compact for manufacturing, but aweful to use in the lab on a breadboard. The MACHBOND adapters are tiny printed circuits with a MACH-chip soldered onto them that extend the pins to standard 2.54mm (0.1in) pinheaders along the four edges of the adapter. By this a design engineer can use all traditional tools to embed the most recent technology into his/her designs. Of course, there are a plenty of decoupling capacitors on each board (usually ceramic 100nF).
As all functional pins are fed to the perimeter so the designer has complete access to all features of the chips, including the cascadability of the JTAG port. Other adapters force the designer to connect the JTAG to the adapter, thus breaking the chain when other JTAG-devices are in the chain.
There are modules with all 100-pin and 208-pin chips. Other pin counts will follow soon. For more information about complete modules please contact our partner iNt.
